Liz on the development and process of the Red Tail Cockatoo  Seat:

Inspiration

The inspiration behind the red tail cockatoo seat was firstly to draw attention to the local red-tailed black cockatoos that live and visit the area within and around the Turtleway Artscape.  Secondly to be both aesthetic and functional.  Sitting at a fork in the Turtleway walk it provides a seat for bird watching and a place for walkers to rest and take in the beauty.  This mix of artwork and functionality created the biggest challenge, especially working with design practices that meet public seating requirements and standards.
