Rosemary on the development and process of the Fighting Kangaroo Project:
Inspiration
The inspiration for this artwork came from the sighting of many kangaroos on the bright green lawns of Kalori during dry times.
A model was fabricated in steel and taken to a Turtleway Artscape meeting. This was to become the first public sculpture. of the Artscape Project.
Life size patterns were made from corflute and K & S sheetmetal cut the pieces which were assembled on site. GRC put in the cement slab and Rick and his mate from the Boyne Island Lions Club attached the sculpture to the base.
lt was decided to make the sculpture from stainless steel for longevity. The project took about three months from start to finish.
